Summer Sleep Away Camp

+ Bringing Up Birdie's Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

At 7 months old, Birdie’s bags were packed for her first summer camp, and I’ve just driven away leaving her for her fourth summer camp. This incredible camp has two of the most amazing camp counselors, JoJo & BopBop. Grandparents are so very special, and these two really take the cake.

Summer Camp always begins with JoJo’s Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream, and we’re excited to share this easy and delicious recipe with you.

• 1/2 gallon chocolate milk

• 16oz whip cream

• 1 can Eagle Brand Condensed Milk

• Morton’s Ice Cream Sat

• Ice

Mix the first three ingredients and pour into ice cream mixer barrel. Layer ice and salt in mixer and turn that baby on for about 45 min or until the ice cream is firm.

Make sure to use whole milk and full fat whip cream...and most of all, only use Eagle Brand Condensed Milk. If you’re from the Deep South, you already know that secret for baked goods and sweets! Just in case your grandmother wasn’t queen of the kitchen, you now know this very important detail.

I’m certain that Birdie will enjoy this tasty treat more than once during summer camp. I’ll see her again in about 10 days, and I miss her already!
